Mindfulness with Children

Course Number
CS08: 01
Overview
In this 3-week series, participants will learn about mindfulness and child appropriate strategies to share mindfulness with children. The benefits of mindfulness for children and how to communicate and share practices with families will be included. Using the C.A.L.M. model, each session will focus on one aspect of mindfulness and include specific ways to share it with children. The sessions will be experiential, and we will practice as we learn.
Objective
As a result of completing this series, participants will be able to:
1. Understand the basic concept of mindfulness, specifically the C.A.L.M. model, and how to apply that to practices for children.
2. Explain mindfulness in child-appropriate terminology.
3. Share 5-10 child-specific mindfulness-based activities.
4. Identify best practices for overcoming barriers and practicing mindfulness with children.
