Overview
Difficult conversation with families can be one of the most stressful aspects of the work. In this Community of Practice we will explore strategies for preventing and addressing challenges with families by supporting communication. We will address topics that include effective policy creation and communication of program policies, ways to discuss sensitive information, and creating a climate of engagement and collaboration.
Objective
• Recognize the importance of building/repairing relationships with families.
• Identify ways to build/rebuild trust with families.
• Discuss the elements of effective communication.
• Consider challenges to communication and utilize conflict resolution skills.

Prerequisite: Communicating with Families: Hello, Goodbye, and Everything In Between
No credit is offered for Communities of Practice.
