Children biting other children is one of the most common and the most difficult challenges working with young children!  Reality Bites (Adapted from Exchange Press Inc) is designed to explore the multi-faceted approach to handling biting in the early childhood settings.  Each PLC session will provide opportunities to develop an approach to handling biting. This will include the child who bites, the child who is bitten, the family, the environment, the schedule, and the educator’s’ problem-solving strategies.

Objectives

1. Educators will explore the different perspectives from which one might view biting behavior in the programs.
2. Educators will understand the developmental nature of biting behavior and how it makes participants feel.
3. Educators will develop a comprehensive approach to handling biting that includes everyone involved.
