Overview
Social Emotional Learning (SEL) and Approaches to Play and Learning (APL) are valuable tools and resources for educators working with preschool children. The materials in this three-part Professional Learning Community are obtained from the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, and the Collaborative for Educational Services. Educators in this PLC will learn the five SEL competencies, and the eight Approaches to Play and Learning (PAL) and reflect upon how these tools can be incorporated into program and curriculum planning.
Objective
  • Learn the five Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) Competencies for Preschool Children 
  • Understand the eight Approaches to Play and Learning (PAL) standards 
  • Use SEL and APL standards to reflect and adopt into program curriculum and planning
