Overview

The EEC Essentials 2.0 Training Program provides all individuals working with children in Massachusetts with foundational knowledge pertaining to health, safety, and child development. The goal of this program is to provide a common base of understanding among early education and care providers, and thereby enable the well-being of the children in our care.

This version includes 11 topics for educators, volunteers and staff working in After-School and Out-of-School Programs. The topics may be taken in any order and will take approximately 10 hours to complete.

The topics in this version maybe taken in any order:

  • Emergency Response (55 minutes) 
  • Food Safety (50 minutes)
  • Hazardous Materials (45 minutes)
  • Introduction to First Aid and CPR (50 minutes)
  • Medication Administration (40 minutes)
  • Missing Child Prevention (35 minutes)
  • Physical Premises Safety (50 minutes)
  • Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (40 minutes)
  • Protecting Children from Abuse and Neglect (70 minutes)
  • Transporting Children Safely (55 minutes)
  • Introduction to Child Growth & Development (90 minutes)
Objective
Learning objectives are included in each Module. Each Module also contains a Course Summary, which provides the course description, learning objectives, essential concepts and practical activities. We encourage you to download this document from the Resource Tab in each course.
Additional Information
These trainings are an EEC requirement for all staff working with children in EEC-licensed and funded programs. 

One certificate of completion will be available upon completion of all components of the EEC Essentials 2.0 Program.
