Making Transitions Magical

Course Number
CS04: 19_EN
Overview
Transitions are teaching opportunities, and they abound in the early childhood/school age environment! They may be different than other learning opportunities in purpose, length and frequency, but they are just as important. By participating in this training, educators will gain new strategies for managing various types of transitions, enabling them to choose the most appropriate approach based on the specific transition context—whether it’s for arrivals, waiting periods, active activities, or quiet times.
Objective
  1. Define the type of transitions that are important to a daily schedule and routine
  2. Analyze what types of transitions are most challenging (which times of the day and why) to develop strategies specific for those time periods
  3. Practice, through role play and small group discussions, a variety of transition activities that they can bring back to their classroom and implement immediately
