Children with Special Diets, Allergies, and Feeding Issues

Overview
Food allergies affect 1 in 13 children in the United States, with young children being the most affected. Food allergies, sensitivities, and other feeding issues are an increasing concern for early education and care programs. Participants will be introduced to the health and safety needs of children with special dietary needs and will learn ways to support these children. Additionally, participants will explore methods of collaborating with families and health professionals. By the end of the training, participants will begin to develop their own individual health care plans for children with special diets, allergies, and specialized feeding issues in their programs.
Objective
  • Understand the health and safety needs of children with special dietary needs, allergies, and feeding issues.
  • Identify strategies to collaborate with families and health professionals to support children with special diets and allergies.
  • Develop individual health care plans to address the specific needs of children with allergies and specialized feeding issues within their programs.
