Overview
This training will guide educators working with school-age children on how to build a safe, healthy, and happy environment where educators will strive to meet the emotional, social, and physical needs of the school-age child. It will also provide a variety of developmentally appropriate activities such as, arts and crafts, self-directed play, dramatic play, physical activities, homework help and more. Educators will also be taught how to communicate and engage families to help support the school-age child within their learning environment and not limited to the home setting. It will also help educators familiarize themselves with EEC school-age regulations, policies and required record keeping and documents for each family and child.
Objective
Educators will gain new knowledge and skills to perform in the school-age classroom.
To assist the students and support educators to reach their goals and create a positive learning environment throughout the program
To help educators develop positive approaches to instruction and classroom management; to help administrators who use positive approaches to managing staff, children, and families
To help educators connect to families, support their communities, and provide resources that will help enrich the school-age child’s learning
To unify the childcare program, family and community with a universal philosophy and a common language that speaks to the development of the school-age child
Identify and discuss strategies to promote student learning through play and activity
Discuss program-wide and classroom practices that will serve to intentionally support and deepen the understanding of how to provide support in the school-age classroom
Build confidence in regulating behavior in the school-age child and supporting adult and peer relationships while building resiliency
