Building Connections through Conversation

Course Number
CS04: 02
Overview
Building social and emotional competencies is an evidenced based approach that has been found to be successful in decreasing problem behaviors and increasing achievement. Afterschool programs can foster the development of SEL skills through simple conversations that develop self-awareness, social awareness and relationship skills. This PLC provides afterschool educators and leaders practical approaches to building conversations between youth. These strategies of sprinkling SEL skills in your daily program schedule will provide opportunities for the youth in your program to build connections through natural interactions. Participants will learn from an experienced facilitator as well as sharing and learning from others.
