Overview
Open, productive communication can be a wonderful part of working with families. But what about when there are bumps in the road? In times of stress, getting vital information to our families can be tough. In this PLC we will highlight the importance of building (and sometimes repairing) relationships with parents, investigate the elements of effective communication, and explore strategies for making sure our messages are understood.
Objective
  • Recognize the importance of building/repairing relationships with families.
  • Identify ways to build/rebuild trust with families.
  • Discuss the elements of effective communication.
  • Consider challenges to communication and utilize conflict resolution skills.
Additional Information

Participants are expected to attend all sessions of an event in order to receive credit for attending. Participants will be marked as “completed” in the LMS if they attend no less than 85% of the total sessions for the event (see table below) and complete all necessary coursework.
